Noontime Toastmasters Membership Information

Greetings!  Why not come and check us out at our next meeting?  We’ve got a friendly and stimulating time in store for you as you enjoy presentations from people just like you.  Not that long ago these people found themselves quaking at the thought of public speaking!

Who Can Join?

We invite anybody interested in public speaking and leadership to join. The Noontime Toastmasters is a community club, which means membership is open to the public.

Dues are $70 per year plus a one-time membership kit fee of $20 for people new to Toastmasters. Checks are made payable to Noontime Toastmasters. Part of the dues go to Toastmasters International to support your subscription to the excellent monthly Toastmasters Magazine and for membership training and contests. The rest is retained by our Club to support contests and other Club events.

What Are the Meetings Like?

You’ll see that each meeting offers at least three kinds of speaking opportunities:

·        Prepared presentations. Members schedule prepared speaking dates with our Vice President of Education. Our prepared speeches follow the Toastmasters’ manuals of speaking projects with building-block objectives for better speaking. These speeches usually range from 5-10 minutes. For example, the basic Toastmaster manual covers ten speeches emphasizing everything from vocal variety to hand gestures and more. The first speech is the ICE-BREAKER where you get up and tell a portion of your life story.  If you’re like many of the rest of us, you may be nervous but it’s your story, so there’s no way you’ll be tongue-tied! Before you know it the 5 minutes are up and you're on your way to becoming a great public speaker!

·        Table Topics. Members are invited to answer, extemporaneously, questions prepared in advance by the Table Topics Master.  The member has 1-2 minutes to answer.

·        Evaluations. An evaluator, assigned in advance, provides both an oral and a written evaluation of each prepared speech. The focus of the evaluation is how well the speaker fulfilled the objectives of the speaking project.  A typical evaluation is in “sandwich” format: first something the speaker did well, then something he/she should improve, then something else he/she did well.  The Evaluator has 2 - 3 minutes to give the oral evaluation.

Mission Statement

The mission of any Toastmasters Club is to provide a mutually supportive and positive learning environment in which every member has the opportunity to develop communication and leadership skills, which in turn fosters personal growth and self-confidence.

3-Easy Steps for Successful Membership

Step 1.  Attend one or two club meetings to get the feel for things.

Step 2.  Submit a completed membership application with *check.

Step 3.  Keep a positive attitude and enjoy yourself.

*Dues are prorated on a monthly basis so the amount to join at any given month will vary.  Overall, new members need to pay a one time fee of $20 for their New Member Kit.  Then annual dues are only $70.
